2008’s Recognition Day
4th May 2008 marked our second annual Recognition Day. We wanted to build on the amazing response we had to our first Recognition Day and spread the word a little further than before.
This year we worked with the brilliant winners of our student Awards to create an activity pack of goodies which included postcards of the top 16 winning entries.

One of our many goals this year was to reach further afield. We wanted the concept of Recognition to act like a catalyst and last longer than we could imagine and spread to unexpected places. We received calls and emails from across the UK and even around the world requesting packs. In all we sent over 1250 activity packs.
We promoted the day, via web, radio and print. Next year we are aiming even higher. We want everyone to recognise both the little and large things in life.
The idea to promote acts of kindness has touched many people’s hearts and many have become passionate about the idea. Here are some of the nice things people have said about Recognition Day:
Faye from Brighton said,
“I have received my recognition day pack and it was such a lovely surprise. I thought it was a really inspired thing to do, something that you don’t see much of, and it made me smile.”
Greg Quinton, a Recognition Award Scheme judge, from the Partners, sent us a postcard with a note that read,
“Thanks for asking me to be involved in your lovely idea to ‘spread a little love.’ Happy Recognition Day!”
Head teacher Gyl Wood said
“Barons Court Infant School and Nursery celebrated Recognition Day on the Friday by distributing the postcards and badge in assembly. All classes then had a roll of empty stickers and the children could create their own recognition stickers and award them on the day to other children or adults. A great success.”
Annabel from…
“What a great idea! I’m currently housebound with a back injury. I’ve had to ask my parents and my brother and sister-in-law to take my daughter to ballet most weeks as my husband is a shift worker. Without there help she’d have had to miss a lot of classes so Recognition Day is a great opportunity for me to thank them. Brilliant!”
A Cog Design client said,
“I’ve just received the Recognition Day pack and LOVE IT, it’s fab - all the people on my desk love it too! (and all want one)…”
We hope that Recognition Day also bought a smile to your face.
