What is Recognition Day?

Our annual Recognition Day (4th May) is one day in the year, that we celebrate an excuse to dispel cynicism, to reach out and say thank you.

Genuine praise is wonderful to receive and simple to give, but none of us do it enough. We want everyone to take a few minutes out of their day to tell others that they appreciate them. On Recognition Day it’s acceptable to suspend the barriers and to say thank you for the little things.

We want to encourage everyone to find ways of giving praise for a job well done, to recognise a kindness shown, a beautiful thought expressed, or a difficult situation tackled. Recognition Day gives a platform to shout a ‘well done!’, to whisper a ‘thank you’ or to tap a stranger on the shoulder and tell them they have made an impact.

4th May is your excuse to be that little bit nicer; it’s your chance to make someone’s day.

2009’s Recognition Day snowballed beyond our expectations. We were overwhelmed by excessive demands for Recognition Day packs. We sent out more than 1500 packs, that was more than any other year so far.

It is never too early to sign up to receive you 2010 activity pack, which will be available from mid-April 2010 (subject to availability). This pack will give you a set of Recognition Day tools, to appreciate those who deserve to be recognised.

We look forward to seeing the response to Recognition Day 2010. We are sure it is going to be even bigger!
